2 years agodrm/panel: panel-innolux: set display off in innolux_panel_unprepare
Hsin-Yi, Wang [Wed, 9 Jan 2019 06:59:22 +0000 (14:59 +0800)]
drm/panel: panel-innolux: set display off in innolux_panel_unprepare

Move mipi_dsi_dcs_set_display_off() from innolux_panel_disable()
to innolux_panel_unprepare(), so they are consistent with
innolux_panel_enable() and innolux_panel_prepare().

This also fixes some mode check and irq timeout issue in MTK dsi code.

Since some dsi code (e.g. mtk_dsi) have following call trace:
1. drm_panel_disable(), which calls innolux_panel_disable()
2. switch to cmd mode
3. drm_panel_unprepare(), which calls innolux_panel_unprepare()

However, mtk_dsi needs to be in cmd mode to be able to send commands
(e.g. mipi_dsi_dcs_set_display_off() and mipi_dsi_dcs_enter_sleep_mode()),
so we need these functions to be called after the switch to cmd mode happens,
i.e. in innolux_panel_unprepare.

So we have a situation where we do not pull in <linux/types.h>
when building for alpha and for ia64 we need even more definitions
are required.

Two invasive fixes where considered:
- Change all declarations of arch_irqs_disabled_flags() to use bool
- Add include of <linux/types.h> to all files that uses bool for
  arch_irqs_disabled_flags

To invasive with a too high pain/benefit ratio, so dropped.
They would not cover ia64 either.

Some less invasive fixes was also considered:
- Add include of <linux/types.h> to drm_util.h
- Add include of <linux/interrupt.h> to drm_util.h

The first was dropped as this did not cover the ia64 case.

The latter was considered the best option as there could
be other similar cases and we would like the header files below
include/drm/ to be selfcontained.
So we end up pulling in a lot of stuff not needed, but this is

drm/i915: Pass down rc in intel_encoder->compute_config()

Something that I completely missed when implementing the new MST VCPI
atomic helpers is that with those helpers, there's technically a chance
of us having to grab additional modeset locks in ->compute_config() and
furthermore, that means we have the potential to hit a normal modeset
deadlock. However, because ->compute_config() only returns a bool this
means we can't return -EDEADLK when we need to drop locks and try again
which means we end up just failing the atomic check permanently. Whoops.

So, fix this by modifying ->compute_config() to pass down an actual
error code instead of a bool so that the atomic check can be restarted
on modeset deadlocks.

Thanks to Ville Syrjälä for pointing this out!

Changes since v1:
* Add some newlines
* Return only -EINVAL from hsw_crt_compute_config()
* Propogate return code from intel_dp_compute_dsc_params()
* Change all of the intel_dp_compute_link_config*() variants

drm: rcar-du: Remove inclusion of drmP.h

The DRM kernel API used to be defined in a handful of headers, pulled in
through drmP.h. It has since been split in multiple headers for the
different DRM components, and drmP.h turned into a legacy header that
just pulls in most of the DRM kernel API (and a large number of other
miscellaneous kernel headers).

In order to speed up compilation, replace inclusion of drmP.h with only

includes most of the necessary headers, so the change is simple.

drm: rcar-du: Disable unused DPAD outputs

DU channels are routed to DPAD outputs in an SoC-dependent way. The
routing can be fixed (e.g. DU3 to DPAD0 on H3) or configurable (e.g. DU0
or DU1 to DPAD0 on D3/E3). The hardware offers no option to disconnect
DPAD outputs, which are thus always driven by a DU channel.

On SoCs that have less DU channels than DU outputs, such as D3 and E3,
the DPAD output is always driven when all channels are in use by other
outputs (such as the internal LVDS and HDMI encoders). This creates an
unwanted clone on the DPAD output.

However, the parallel output of the DU channels routed to DPAD can be
set to fixed levels in the DU channels themselves through the DOFLR
group register. Use this to turn the DPAD on or off by driving fixed
signals at the output of any DU channel not routed to a DPAD output.
This doesn't affect the DU output signals going to other outputs.

2 years agodrm/panel: Add a driver for the TPO TPG110
Linus Walleij [Fri, 11 Jan 2019 17:54:06 +0000 (18:54 +0100)]
drm/panel: Add a driver for the TPO TPG110

The TPO (Toppoly) TPG110 is a pretty generic display driver
similar in vein to the Ilitek 93xx devices. It is not a panel
per se but a driver used with several low-cost noname panels.

This is used on the Nomadik NHK15 combined with a OSD
OSD057VA01CT display for WVGA 800x480.

The driver is pretty minimalistic right now but can be
extended to handle non-default polarities, gamma correction
etc.

The driver is based on the baked-in code in
drivers/video/fbdev/amba-clcd-nomadik.c which will be
decomissioned once this us upstream.

2 years agodrm: Auto-set allow_fb_modifiers when given modifiers at plane init
Paul Kocialkowski [Fri, 4 Jan 2019 08:56:10 +0000 (09:56 +0100)]
drm: Auto-set allow_fb_modifiers when given modifiers at plane init

When drivers pass non-empty lists of modifiers for initializing their
planes, we can infer that they allow framebuffer modifiers and set the
driver's allow_fb_modifiers mode config element.

In case the allow_fb_modifiers element was not set (some drivers tend
to set them after registering planes), the modifiers will still be
registered but won't be available to userspace unless the flag is set
later. However in that case, the IN_FORMATS blob won't be created.

In order to avoid this case and generally reduce the trouble associated
with the flag, always set allow_fb_modifiers when a non-empty list of
format modifiers is passed at plane init.
