the names were too generic:

 drivers/uio/uio.c:87: error: expected identifier or '(' before 'do'
 drivers/uio/uio.c:87: error: expected identifier or '(' before 'while'
 drivers/uio/uio.c:113: error: 'map_release' undeclared here (not in a function)
